Andrew Chaikin schreibt seit mehr als zwei Jahrzehnten Artikel und Bücher über Raumfahrt und Astronomie. Ende der 90er-Jahre war er Redakteur des Magazins "Space Illustrated". Chaikin hält häufig Vorträge zum Thema Raumfahrt und ist als Kommentator für amerikanische Radiosender tätig. Vor seiner Zeit als Wissenschaftsjournalist arbeitete der Uni-Absolvent am Jet Propulsion Laboratory der NASA bei den Viking-Missionen mit und war als Forscher am Smithsonian Institute tätig.
